Country Description

An economy dependent on two major exports: gold and cotton. With its key industry being agriculture, Cotton is the country's largest crop export. Mali is the fourth-largest gold producer in Africa (trailing Ghana, South Africa, and Sudan). Gold is by far Mali’s most important export, comprising 64% of total exports and 21% of government revenue in 2018.
